‘God Was Watching Over Me’: NFL Player Patrick Mahomes Praises God After Kneecap Dislocation

A physical injury is not stopping Patrick Mahomes from praising God. Despite his condition, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback still thanked God and for all the prayers directed at his recovery.

Mahomes sustained a painful injury during the Chief’s game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday. He dislocated his right kneecap in the second quarter and footage from the field showed trained medics seemingly popping it back into place.

“His knee didn’t even look like a knee. It was all out of whack,” Travis Kelce told ESPN.

I’m no doctor, but that looked a lot like they just had to pop Mahomes’ knee(cap) back into place. Ouch https://t.co/v8nZi3dbuz

Mahomes had to sit the rest of the game out and was eventually put on medical leave for three weeks until his injury heals. In the meantime, Matt Moore, who led the team to victory against the Broncos, will take over as quarterback in his absence.

The American football player will have to miss home games against Green Bay and Minnesota according to Faithwire. Despite this, the 24-year-old remains optimistic. Mahomes congratulated his team for their win against Broncos and even praised God in a tweet.

Then on his Instagram post, he also thanked God for watching over him on the field. He could have sustained a far worst injury but God was there protecting him.

“God was watching over me on that field! My brothers held it down! We keep it moving forward! Mahomes wrote.

Mahomes has always been vocal about his faith in Christ. He even honored God during his acceptance speech when he received the Most Valuable Player award at the NFL Honors ceremony in February 2018.

“This season was special and there were a lot of people that helped me get to this point. First, I just want to thank God because without Him none of us would even be here,” he said in his speech.
