American Idol contestant, Genavieve Linkowski, with her brothers and sister sing a heartwarming Christian song posted on her YouTube page. The song titled, “You Say”, is meant to encourage Christians about the love they receive from God through Jesus Christ. Genavieve shares about the song: As we go through trials, we can know that God has a plan while testing our faith.
“You Say” teaches that there is hope in our Heavenly Father and that those who persevere will be delivered. It is a pleasant reminder of how God sees us in Christ and was at number one for 27 weeks on the Christian Billboard charts.
In the video, Genavieve is joined by her sister Corinn, brothers Isaac and John, and friend Eric to form a melodic blend of smooth voice, guitar, and light beatbox sound. Not only is the music sweet to the ears, but the words also show us that we walk by faith not by sight:
“You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don’t belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me
Oh, I believe”
However, the video has become a bittersweet memory for the musicians. Corinn, 18, was killed in a tragic automobile accident, February 17, 2019. She was involved in a head-on crash that left her in a hospital for four days before succumbing to her injuries. According to a Michigan news report, Genavieve and Corinn “were being considered as a duet for the NBC reality show ‘America’s Got Talent,’ a discussion the family was having the night before the accident.”
The family video and song have comforted many, but may the words of their music bring comfort to their own spirits during this time of grieving for their loss.
