Max Lucado Gets COVID Despite Vaccination, Still Doing His Best to Count Blessings and Serving God

Christian bestselling author and preacher Max Lucado says he recently tested positive for COVID-19 despite vaccination.

Lucado said on Facebook post: “Groan. Covid found me. Tested positive yesterday. Was planning to preach today @oakhillschurch and go with some guys on epic golf trip to Ireland tomorrow. Turns out it’s me in a downstairs room with aches, stuffy head and quarantine.”

But he said “there is reason for thanks.”, for good docs, amazing wife and being at home instead of hotel.

“Though miserable, the misery would have been worse with no vaccination. So doing my best to count blessings.”

Lucado still looks to use his downtime to serve God and God’s people, “”Help me put this time to god use- how can I pray for you? Heaven knows, I’ll have the time to do so. Post any prayer needs and I’ll gladly pray on your behalf.”

An Associated Press analysis of available government data from May shows that “breakthrough” infections in fully vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 of more than 107,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations. That’s about 1.1%.

And only about 150 of the more than 18,000 COVID-19 deaths in May were in fully vaccinated people. That translates to about 0.8%, or five deaths per day on average.

About 63% of all vaccine-eligible Americans — those 12 and older — have received at least one dose, and 53% are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. While vaccine remains scarce in much of the world, the U.S. supply is so abundant and demand has slumped so dramatically that shots sit unused.
