What Does The Bible Say About Homosexuality? Is Homosexuality A Sin?

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin (Romans 1:24-27) and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it right for him to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true with homosexuality.

However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13).

  1. If the bible isn’t enough for you then let this sink in for a minute. And I’m gonna be a little crude here so some of you might want to move on. A mans penis doesn’t belong in another man’s ass. Nor does it belong in another man’s mouth. If you do that there is something wrong in your brain. How totally disgusting can a person get?

  2. When you think god made mistakes he dont
No one is Born this way it a choice it start with trauma an abuse love is ment for everyone but physical is wrong that god words not mine
    But it YOUR choice only
You an god will be dilling with this he do forgive as long as you learn from mistakes he
    Know before you know
So dont think your sharper than god
Mental illness is a big part it ok to say your not
    Just think about some
Of your good time an what was you filling an hopeing this is where the help is needed i do get the love thing but there that the one word
We dont like because something has to change peace to all an that where we can start
    From I’m out

  3. It doesn’t matter what I think or what anyone else thinks. What matters is what the word of God says. I know God can deliver anyone of anything, He delivered me of many things. Here is what the word says,
(Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Eph 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
1Ti 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.)
We need to realize that no matter what anyone has done, God’s grace is sufficient (2 corinthians12:9) and as John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
If we cry out to God, He will forgive us and wash all our sins away by the blood of Jesus Christ. I was that whosoever and you can be too. Just call upon Jesus.
In the end, God will have the final say. Our job is to follow our convictions that line up with biblical truths. God will do the rest. He loves everyone but we have to make the choice to follow Him or our own lust and desires. The choice is yours. Will you decide to follow Him and have eternal life? Just ask Him into your heart today and what a wonderful difference He will make in your life.

  4. Homosexuality has been around since the dawn of time. Homosexuality was common back in the day of the Bible. No one had a problem with it then but sure does a lot of people put their business and everybody else’s and has a problem with it. This is the problem with people today mind your business worry about your glass house and don’t throw stones at anybody else’s Glass House. No one has the right to judge anybody on how they are not your job that is God’s job.

    • Considering the level of judgement for this sin, the Bible makes it clear that God and his people did have a problem with it. That it is completely unacceptable to him and worthy of the most extreme forms punishment at the final judgement.

    • Oh and I did not mention your own perverse thoughts or angry thoughts towards others which include judgemental thoughts..Those are all sins as well…So is masturbation…So we all fall short in the glory of God There’s not one person on the face of this earth that is not a sinner and that is with him/her trying to behave and do the best that they can because our thoughts alone fail us and make us a sinner
Also good deeds buy you no favors
